Temple Desecration

Temple and properties desecrated

The Statues of Iputhou Pakhangba and Ibenthou Nurabi and other materials belonging to Iputhou Laiming Koloi temple located at Heingang Marching hill (also known as Hannaba Ching) under Heingang police station in Imphal East district, Manipur. The Megalith inside the shrine was destroyed and dropped the Megalith to the pond nearby the temple.  The temple was donated by the effort of the people of the area under the active initiative of late Mutum Gandharsing Meetei in 1952. Since then, people have been worshipping Iputhou Pakhangba and Ibenthou Nurabi.

This recent demolition is the fifth time which the temple is under attack. At many instant, the GI-sheet roofing of the guest house at the temple had also been stolen and dismantled.  Words stating that the land is no more for the Marjing, Laiharouba (a traditional way of offering prayer to God for the Meitei community) means worshipping Saitan were found written in Bengali scripts on the wall of the temple.

Whether such act is carry out to bring communal riots between the Meitei and the Meitei Muslim?

Will the people remain silent when the deities are defiled?

What step has the state government taken up in addressing the issue?

Where are those non state actors who work for cultural heritage, custom, tradition of Ema Manipur?
